Sensei Sarah Dobkins was born and raised in Laramie Wyoming. She moved to Cheyenne Wyoming just after high school to attend College in 02'. She married her high school sweetheart, Master Phillip Dobkins, in 06' and together they have two beautiful daughters.
Sarah's Martial Arts journey began at the age of eight when she studied under Laramie's Instructor Amber Travsky for a couple of years. She again returned to Martial Arts after meeting her husband to be in 2000. Together they studied under Master Mark Mathews for many years. Together with her husband, Sarah opened and manages, the Momentum Academy of Martial Arts. Sarah has trained for 11 years in American Freestyle Karate and currently holds a 1st degree Black Belt in the system. Sarah is training towards a Second Degree. She teaches the Grasshopper program & co- teaches the AFK program. In 2011 Sarah captured a Colorado state title. She earned second place state-wide for Adult Womens Black Belt Traditional Forms through the Colorado Karate Association. Along with Martial Arts, Sarah Is a certified Veterinary Assistant, foster pet parent for the local animal shelter, plays the Native American Cedar Flute, and is a devoted Mom. She also enjoys sewing, taking care of her many animals, movies, fishing, camping, reading, and occasionally drawing.
Sarah was asked if she had any advice for today's youth and she said, "Never stop learning. Never stop playing. When you stop, that's when you start getting old. Keep yourself so busy you don’t have time to get into trouble."
